CHANGE MANAGEMENT SERVICE

Nottingham CVS Change Management Service

Government public service reform agenda is gathering pace and an increased role for the voluntary and community sector in delivering public services is becoming a reality. The sector is becoming more aware of the opportunity to gain income through public service contracts as an alternative to grant funding. In order to be able to take advantage of this opportunity and be on an equal footing with other sectors, some VCO's require support to develop new skills, knowledge and expertise to secure and manage contracts with public sector organisations.

The Change Management Service was established in 2005: Our aim is to build the capacity of voluntary & community organisations (VCOs), to deliver public services to bring about neighbourhood renewal.

We are actively working with commissioning bodies to analyse current working practices and develop workable solutions to enable increased voluntary and community sector (VCS) participation and delivery. We are also working with voluntary and community organisations to maximise their potential to bid for and win public sector delivery contracts.

Working with both commissioners and voluntary and community groups means we are effectively 'two sides of the same coin' - giving us an invaluable advantage in ensuring everyone is aware of both issues and opportunities in public service delivery, and providing a link between the VCS and commissioners.

New Flyer from NCVO

"Do you know how the voluntary and community sector can help transform public services?" is a new flyer from NCVO's Sustainable Funding Project aimed at those new to working with the voluntary and community sector.

In six brief pages it explains what the sector can offer and provides practical advice on how to develop and build effective working relationships. It is the first in a series of resources looking at how the statutory sector and the voluntary and community sector can work together to ensure that commissioning and procurement policies and practice lead to fruitful relationships.
